About Montréal Python

A volunteer-led Python community in Montréal — open, bilingual, and committed to learning together since 2010.

Our Mission

Montréal Python exists to foster a community of Python enthusiasts in Montréal, to make Python programming accessible to all, and to encourage social responsibility in everything we do.

Every event is designed so attendees leave with something concrete: a new concept, a professional connection, or a reason to come back next month.

A Brief History

What started as small gatherings of Python enthusiasts grew into one of Canada's most active user groups. In 2014 and 2015, Montréal Python hosted PyCon North America — the continent's largest Python conference.

In 2024, the board opened leadership to new volunteers. Not because the community was fading, but because rotation keeps organizations healthy and relevant.

What We Do

Monthly Conferences (MP-Series) — Two talks, one evening, dozens of new conversations. Topics span web, data, robotics, and engineering practices.

Workshops & Code Sprints — Hands-on sessions with open-source materials on GitHub.

Video Archive — Recorded talks on YouTube for those who couldn't attend in person.

Our Values

  • Inclusivity — Beginners welcome. Experts still learn.
  • Bilingual — Events run in English and French.
  • Code of Conduct — Safe spaces are non-negotiable.
  • Volunteer-Led — No CEO. Just people who care.

Volunteer Team

Montréal Python runs on volunteer time — evenings, weekends, between work deadlines. Want to help? Email [email protected] with subject Volunteer.
